SUMMARY: New techniques for solving inverse problems based on regularization with sparsity-promoting metrics promise improvements in acoustic imaging results. However, these techniques present high computational costs. Recently, the Kronecker transform for microphone arrays was developed, providing a significant reduction in computational cost, provided that the microphones are distributed in a separable array. In this opportunity, I will describe the acoustic imaging problem, the solution found for its acceleration and I will present a recently constructed microphone array with separable geometry, showing the first results obtained.
The speaker: Bruno Sanches Masiero completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo in 2005 and 2007, respectively, where he worked with room acoustics and active noise control. From 2007 to 2012, he completed his doctorate at the Institute of Acoustic Engineering at RWTH-Aachen University, Germany, where he conducted research in the area of acoustic virtual reality. He is currently a researcher at the Signal Processing Laboratory of EP-USP, with a postdoctoral fellowship from FAPESP, working in the areas of compressive sampling and acoustic imaging.
