O GEDONMI involves the line of research in assessment, guidance and physiotherapeutic intervention in childhood neuromuscular diseases. For the assessment, motor scales determined for each dysfunction are used with the aim of creating scientific advances, regarding the effects of new medications on motor and respiratory aspects in the short, medium and long term. Regarding guidance and intervention, the group's proposal is to create adaptive material and train parents to follow home and preventive guidelines for comorbidities, regardless of whether or not they receive regular outpatient care.

O GENEP began its activities in 2014 at the UFRJ Maternity School based on the practices and studies in the neonatal ICU of Prof. Halina Cidrini. In 2017, it was configured as a research group certified by UFRJ in the CNPq Research Directory, with the participation of Prof. Rosana Santos and studies on Child Development. More recently, a line of research in Women's Health was added to the group with the entry of Prof. Jeanine Campani. Thus, today several lines of research and extension courses operate in the areas of neonatal physiotherapy, child development, pediatric physiotherapy and women's health with the participation of undergraduate and graduate students and extension workers.

The Dance and Health Study Group - GEDANSE, aims to establish a dialogue, in the field of science, between health (mainly through Physiotherapy) and dance; a union of specific areas that is still innovative in Brazil. In the field of activity, the group intends to evaluate and guide dancers regarding their physical health, identifying the factors that condition dysfunctions and musculoskeletal manifestations. To this end, we develop research that: evaluates the musculoskeletal health of dancers, establishing relationships with other practitioners of regular physical exercise; evaluates the psychomotor characteristics of dance students; evaluates physical conditions that protect against or produce musculoskeletal injuries; and guides dancers regarding conduct and practices that aim to improve health conditions. In a multidisciplinary environment, this group works to encourage reflection, research, guidance and continuing education for better health functioning for, and through, dance.
