The Dance and Health Study Group - GEDANSE, aims to establish a dialogue, in the field of science, between health (mainly through Physiotherapy) and dance; a union of specific areas that is still innovative in Brazil. In the field of activity, the group intends to evaluate and guide dancers regarding their physical health, identifying the factors that condition dysfunctions and musculoskeletal manifestations. To this end, we develop research that: evaluates the musculoskeletal health of dancers, establishing relationships with other practitioners of regular physical exercise; evaluates the psychomotor characteristics of dance students; evaluates physical conditions that protect against or produce musculoskeletal injuries; and guides dancers regarding conduct and practices that aim to improve health conditions. In a multidisciplinary environment, this group works to encourage reflection, research, guidance and continuing education for better health functioning for, and through, dance.
