03 07 MECANICA Areas Compact Separator Technology LaboratoryHome: 2010

Description:

Operation: research projects in drilling, completion and intervention of oil and natural gas wells.

Goal: implementation of a multidisciplinary skills hub, with the function of bringing together various research groups working at the UFRJ Technology Center; assembly of a specific library on well engineering.

Facilities (planned): polyaxial cell for evaluating the efficiency of well stimulation operations by hydraulic fracturing, with the capacity to confine rock blocks of 1 m3, aiming to evaluate the influence of stress contrast in increasing the productivity of a well; equipment for studying and developing additives that prevent the freezing of fluids in well lines in ultra-deep waters, such as in the new Tupi and Júpiter fields; and equipment for evaluating fluids that reduce friction losses in long-range wells.

Applications: development of computer programs for interpreting data related to the stress state of isotropic, anisotropic, linear, non-linear masses and time-varying behavior (creep), such as reservoir rocks, saline rocks, shales, carbonates, marls, siltstones and claystones.
