The Curricular Internship is regulated by specific Law, by General Rules of UFRJ, established by CEG - Undergraduate Education Council, and by Internal Rules of the Polytechnic School, established by its Congregation - see below.
The supervised curricular internship is recorded on the student's academic transcript. Upon request, non-mandatory internships can also be recorded on the academic transcript. Check internship prerequisites here.
Situations not covered by the Rules will be assessed and dealt with by the Course Internship Committee.
The Internship Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Course is responsible for approving and monitoring students' Curricular Internship activities. At the Committee's discretion, the monitoring of activities may be carried out by Academic Advisors.
Internship Law (Law No. 11.788, of 25/09/2008)
The preparation of the Graduation Project aims to exercise the application of acquired knowledge, methods and techniques for designing mechanical systems and equipment, in situations that simulate real conditions of the professional performance of a mechanical engineer, and to assess the student's ability to exercise this profession.
The documents required to schedule the Final Project defense date are: (a) Cover Sheet and Disclosure Form (see link below) and (b) a printed copy of the Final Project. These documents must be submitted at least 1 week in advance to the Department of Mechanical Engineering Secretariat, so that there is sufficient time for verification and dissemination.
Check the important dates for Graduation here.

DEM Graduation Project Standard
The Course Coordination designates an academic advisor for each student, who must assist them in dealing with any other matters concerning the progress of the Course.
New students, at the beginning of their first academic period in the Mechanical Engineering Course, must go to the Secretariat to be informed about their respective Academic Advisors.
The registration process in SIGA is the responsibility of the Academic Advisor.
The Academic Guidance and Monitoring Committee – COAA aims to monitor, advise, guide, analyze and suggest referrals for students who present insufficient academic performance.
Generally, the situations analyzed involve processes of cancellation of enrollment, housing assistance and scholarship assistance.
The COAA is composed of at least three teachers and one representative of the student body.
Currently, the COAA of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is composed of:
Student representatives:
Prof. Flávio de Marco Filho (Academic Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Course),
Prof. Fabio da Costa Figueiredo,
Prof.
Prof. Gabriel Lisbôa Verissimo,
Prof. Roney Leon Thompson,
- Professor.
Jonatha Gomes Tavares de Mello (Holder);
- Juliana Calazans de Cerqueira (Alternate).
Students interested in more information about how COAA works or its components should contact the Course Coordinator.
