18 12 Mechanics AequipeMinervaBots NewsTwo UFRJ students (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) won the Japan Robot Sumo Tournament at the beginning of December. Anne Victoria Rodrigues da Costa, from DEM, and Ligia Calina Bueno Bonifacio, electronic and computer engineering, were champions in category Mini Sumo.

The students represented the MinervaBots, competition team of Polytechnic School of UFRJ, under the coordination of Professor Vitor Ferreira, with the robot Little Joe. The group was champion in the tournament that brought together 63 robots of different nationalities.

A journey to the trophy passed by Japanese robots, the mexican robot Fever, what is world reference, and the team's overcoming Kimauanisso, from Mauá Institute of Technology, Sao Paulo.

FOR ligia, victory represents the potential of women in technology.
