03 07 MECANICA Areas Compact Separator Technology LaboratoryHome: 2010

Description: The Compact Separators Laboratory was built to study compact air/liquid/liquid separation systems. A key difference between this proposal and existing research centers in Brazil on this subject is the application of instrumentation based on thermal anemometry (TA), laser Doppler anemometry (ALD), and particle image velocimetry (PIV) for the scientific and technological investigation of the problems under interest. These measurement techniques represent the state-of-the-art in fluid flow measurement, capable of characterizing global and local properties of complex flows. For this reason, they are particularly suitable for the investigation of compact separators.

Area of expertise : Study of compact air/liquid/liquid separation systems.

Installations (under implementation): For investigation of separation processes, two-phase air/liquid system and three-phase air/water/fluid system model.
